Bei is a Pokemon Trainer OC. She is basically a second incarnation of a character I used in a Pokemon RP with my sister many years ago based on the game, so she hails from Littleroot town in Hoenn, same as in the game. She never planned on becoming a pokemon trainer, though an excuse to do so would have been welcome to her. Her excuse came in the form of an injured Treecko she found in her garden one day, with a clubfoot. She took it to Professor Birch, who suggested she bring it to a woman outside of Rustboro who takes care of disabled Pokemon. Bei enthusiastically agrees to go, and her mother lets her take their pet Poochyena along. And bam, there you go, Pokemon journey.

She studied a lot about Pokemon on her own out of interest, and when she was a little girl she wanted to do Pokemon Contests. She grew out of that, but she still has the ribbon she won in an informal first grade Pokemon Contest, which she takes with her and wears on her hat. She is generally very optimistic and genuinely excited about things. She’s quite country-bumpkin-like, actually.

Her Pokemon:
- Oliver: This Treecko was the reason she started her Pokemon journey. He is a baby, and small enough to fit in Bei’s chest pocket. Bei was worried he’d been abandoned by his family because he couldn’t climb or run well enough to survive. He’s rather standoffish and self-conscious about his foot, so Bei bought him a pair of doll-sized socks to wear to cover them up. When she decides to keep him and teach him how to battle instead of giving him to the woman at Rustboro, his confidence starts to grow and he becomes a little more cocky.
- Chico: she is the pet Poochyena that Bei grew up with. Bei’s mother originally sent Chico along to keep Bei safe, but it turns out she’s rather a coward. After she evolves, though, she becomes one of Bei’s best pokemon.
- Captain: Bei caught this Lotad in the area around Oldale town. He is the first Pokemon she caught in a pokeball. She named him Captain because he likes to march around in a jolly and bizarre fashion.
- Waverly: He is a Ralts that she caught on her way to Petalburg. Ralts had always been her favorite pokemon, so she went a little bonkers when she learned they live around Petalburg. Waverly is quite timid, and she kind of pampers him and doesn’t use him in battle much until all her other pokemon have evolved at least once, and Waverly starts to feel left out.
- Electrike: This pokemon came into Bei’s posession after she raced it on the cycling road. She is quite wild and enjoys battles. She picks on cowardly Chico a lot; the two develop a rivalry.
- Trapinch: Bei catches this pokemon later in her journey, in the desert. He is the calm, reliable type.
