NONETTE
Story: untitled
Age: ??
Nonette is from a video game idea I have. She is fed up with living a dull life, so she starts traveling, and finds a door that takes her to a new world. In that world, she finds another door leading to a new world, and in that world, yet another door. Finally, after passing through a certain door, she suddenly faints. When she wakes up, she is reduced to the form you see her in here, voiceless and with her head, shoulders, and legs all detached from eachother. She searches frantically for the exit door, but when she finds it, the doorknob is missing. She is now stuck in a world that is also broken and missing vital parts like she is.
That's the setup, at least. :> The default weapon you fight with is a crystal on a chain that you use sort of like a whip. Attached to the other end of the chain is a book which can hold objects. You can find objects everywhere and hold them in your book to use later or use as a weapon to replace the crystal. The objects you can hold in your book are all used to repair things to make the world complete again, and since that is the object of the game, some of the objects are vital to advancing the story. These kinds of items are rare/one-of-a-kind, and make very strong weapons (like a big fan blade that you'll need to use later to blow yourself across a gap or something). There are also lower-rarity items like wood planks or pipes that can be found anywhere and can be used to complete little side quests.
Another possible game mechanic could be separating your body to go sneak around, too. Since Nonette's shoulders/arms, both legs, and head are all disconnected from eachother, I imagine she'd easily be able to go send her head into a vent or something to go eavesdrop on someone.
Since Nonette can't talk, a spirit inside her book tells her how to play and provides exposition. I'm also trying to come up with a main antagonist. There's an organization called INCOM ("incomplete") that sort of runs things that seems to be a good candidate for "evil organization". I dunno, I have to do more concept art for this. I really like it.
Fuzzies
I don't have a name for these, so I'll just call them fuzzies for now. >_> They're sort of an enigmatic creature, in that they really aren't on anyone's side. Sometimes they hinder you, and sometimes they help you, and sometimes they ignore you altogether. I think if there had to be an item shop, it would probably be one of those running it. I dunno. Because I think that's cute. They cluster around areas that are broken or missing parts.
