Suzu

SUZU MURAYAMA
Story: Autumn/Winter
Age: 18
Birthday: Dec. 23
12th grade

Suzu comes from a wealthy family that owns a popular chain of business-class hotels.
His mother is controlling and obsessed with social standards, and his father is distant and unavailable. At a very young age he learned that the best way to get what he wants from people was through deceit and underhanded tactics ("Oh, how did that expensive bottle of '95 Bordeaux get all over this antique carpet? I simply have no idea"). As shallow he may seem, he has never been satisfied with a life of wealth.
Wanting to escape the other rich and snobbish types he went to school with, he "convinced" his mother (using aformentioned tactics) to let him attend public school for his last year of high school. They came to an agreement that involves a few conditions that Suzu must adhere to, one being that he must play boyfriend to the daughter of a valuable business partner, Renee Depaul. This backfired, however, in that in public school people only thought him worth however much money he had in his pocket.
But, this is where he met Daichi. In a sea of gold-diggers, it seemed Daichi was the only person who didn't want to be friends with him. So, of course, this made him want to be friends with Daichi.
He finds it unusually easy to open up to Daichi from the moment they meet. Around Daichi he is silly and happy, while he puts up a calm, composed, "cool guy" front in other social situations. Like Daichi, he avoids situations that make him uncomfortable. Communicating his feelings with words is difficult for him; he can communicate a lot better through touch, thus he is always doing small things like patting Daichi on the shoulder or holding his hand to get his feelings across.
He loves to play piano and is very talented at it. Of course, his mother would rather he be a CEO or something with a fat paycheck. He would never admit it, but there is always a sliver of him that yearns for his mother's approval. His temper can get out of control and he ends up saying things he doesn't mean. He is also ashamed of the underhanded things he does and is even afraid sometimes that he is tempted to exploit Daichi as a way to get under his mother's skin.
