He first met Jun at a gay pride event (one that he did not really want to be attending, but there he was), where he asked Jun if he wanted to meet up sometime, since they both like playing tennis and whatnot. Jun was dense and didn't realize that he meant a date. Since then, he has been sort of discouraged from admitting his feelings to Jun, and settles for being friends until he finds a chance to try again. When Jun starts dating Kaimei, he immediately takes a dislike to Kaimei and tries futilely to talk Jun out of being with him. This just pushes Jun away, so instead of sticking around and watching Kaimei ruin him, Eito breaks off contact with Jun.
Later when Jun starts talking to him again, he admits his feelings and enters into a sort of relationship with Jun alongside Kaimei's. He gets frustrated with himself because this is exactly what he promised himself he wouldn't let happen and now he can't find it in him to stop. He wants to be available to help Jun whenever he can, but he doesn't want to stay his “backup” forever.
Anyway, Eito prides himself in being a very practical person. His opinions on things can often be a little odd, but he believes in them with unwavering conviction. He seems serious at first but if you find the right subject you can coax out his energetic, humorous side.
