Story: Angel Reincarnate


The first Nathaniel in the story, in [date undecided], was an English youth from an aristocratic family. He was the black sheep, never enjoying the social gatherings that were the reinforcement of his status. Yet it was at one of these parties that he met Rhamiel, who was then concealing his identity. Fast-forward to modern day, where he would rather be called Nate, and a cursed life has left scars on his soul. He is much more sarcastic and jaded than his naive, sweet past counterpart, though deep down he is still just as fragile. He grew up in England in a well-to-do family, when suddenly his father was arrested for evading taxes and they became poor. He was 15 when his mother could not afford to support both him and his little sister, so she sent him to live with an old associate in America. But, upon arriving, he found that the associate was gone, and he was stuck. He has basically been working to earn money to live ever since.
He works in a convenience store when Rhamiel finds him. He is initially very put off by Rhamiel’s insistent claims that they’ve met, he is in love, and he is an angel. But as Rhamiel is so persistent, he ends up spending more time with him than he would’ve chosen to himself. He gets to know him better and even begins to believe his story about being an angel.. a little. As they grow closer, Nate’s toughened outer shell starts to slip.
He doesn’t make enough to afford a real city apartment, so he mostly stays in motels. His whole life since coming to America was dedicated to earning his keep, so much so that he has lost sight of the value in living. It’s Rhamiel that starts to show it to him again.
