On one of my many visits to Elaine's house during our high school years, I thought, "what if we made a yaoi parody in which every character archetype/stereotype was represented?" We'd put all these gay men in one mansion, add in a homophobic straight guy and a lesbian and see what hilarity would ensue. Suddenly, Elaine was drawing up the characters and I was making up their backstories. Little did we know that the inhabitants of Momotani Manor would have surprising depths to reveal to us--or that the enigmatic owner of the manor would prove stranger than our wildest expectations. Thus our silly story, over many years of character development and late night talks over the phone, became about humanity and facing life--as well as gay sex and hi jinx.

The enigmatic owner of the mansion who, for reasons unknown, allows all tenants to stay for free and even provides groceries and toiletries. None of the tenants have known direct communication with Momotani-san. Although, given that they get such a sweet gig, why would they question it? Momotani-san has always left messages in notes for the tenants and, as far as is known, has never met any of them face to face. Why the secrecy? Could the unveiling of Momotani-san's identity reveal more about all the tenants themselves?
