Yui

YUI
Age: 2
Story:  Alone Boy

Yui was born, artificially constructed, in a lab. He is the result of years of research by both Dr. Halsey and her father before her. After "birth", he grew at a greatly accelerated rate, but by the time the story takes place it has pretty much evened out. His body is far from perfect; alongside issues concerning digestion and blood pressure, his lungs are sensitive to his body temperature, which is sensitive to his environment/stress level/diet. This means his life has to be very closely monitored and every element measured carefully. If the temperature of his room gets too low, for instance, he may start to have trouble breathing. Sometime in the first year of his life, he suffered a minor stroke which messed up the part of his brain that puts out speech, which explains his bizarre and often hard to understand speech patterns. As his life has gone on, though, all these elements have slowly started to stabilize.
Shortly after Sean comes into the picture, it is discovered that Yui has emerging psychic abilities. Though he is illiterate, he would often write down pages of Shakespeare (apparently out of a book Halsey carried with her) word for word, without even seeing the pages. When this was discovered, Halsey started experimenting with other avenues of his ESP, such as moving things with his mind. His unusually strong empathy may be a product of the ESP as well, and it seems like the kinetic/energy side of his powers are stronger when he is frustrated, angry, or afraid, and the empathy/understanding side is stronger when he is content or happy.
He grows attached to Sean very quickly. Eventually they become so close he begins to communicate with Sean on an almost wordless level, whereas in the beginning he would always become frustrated and discouraged with his inability to get his thoughts across verbally.

  1. YAY! YUI! I remember seeing your first drawing of Yui! I was so amazed! Yui is extremely likable. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't get moe feelings just by looking at him. He's got that interesting dynamic. It's a bit like "L" in that he has in appearance that at first might seem a bit...creepy is the wrong word, I can't think of the right one. But it works so well, I think atypical might be a word that's a bit closer. But there is something about him because he is not the traditional bishonenen or cutsey moe character, that makes him more loveable.

  5. Since it says his lungs are sensitive to temperature isn't sex like dangerous for him? Could he get too hot? Random question but just wondering XD;;
